On 25 June 1950armed forces from communist North Korea bulldoze their way into South Korea, setting off the Korean War. Following a Soviet blockade of all ground routes into and out of Berlin, American and British forces organise airlifts to maintain food supplies into the isolated city. On June 26 1948, the effort to feed more than two million people in the city of Berlin began.
